A Girl Named Disaster is about a girl who lives in a traditional Mozambique village in 1981. The girl, Disaster, is forced to get married to a cruel and greedy man. After she finds out, she leaves her village at night in a boat to find her father. I would recommend this book to ages 8 - 14.
