Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin

The main idea is how fifteen-year old Liz Hall finds a way to deal with all the confusion and hurt she discovers in the afterlife. One of the positive elements of the book is that it is very imaginative and creative. The life after death may not be so different from the life lived on Earth. I recommend this novel to anyone who wants to read an intriguing and thought-provoking story.
