Runner by Carl Deuker

This book is about a teenage boy who has an alcoholic, but not abusive father. He takes a job delivering parcels. Later, he finds out that these packages contain drugs and plastic explosives. He calls the police and the terrorists are captured at the cost of his father's life. The book keeps the reader in suspense all the way through, but the plot is extremely simple. I would recommend Runner to 8th graders because they can understand the main character's problems and worries.
