This is a tale of a girl, a mom that has died in a fire, a heartbroken father, and a little brother that has died while being born. The only happiness is Billie Jo's life. She plays her piano but she cant because her hand is wounded. Even worse dust storms are destroying crops and there's barely any food. Recommended for 4th or 5th graders.
