Every past summer, Lily has spent at her family's summer house in Rockaway Beach. But this summer of 1944, the war will change everything. Margaret, Lily's best friend has to move away, and worse, Lily's father is going away too.
Lily is lonely and bored until Albert, a refugee from Hungary, comes. They become friends and each find that the other tells lies. But only Lily knows that she has told the most terrible of them all- one that may cost Albert his life.
